Takoda Kennels

We here at Takoda Kennels do not breed our females every heat and are only a part-time kennel so we only have litters on occasion. Takoda Kennels strives to produce healthy, sound, good tempered puppies that make great companions. We occasionally breed for performance in the field and most of our dogs have many field or show titled dogs in their pedigrees, proving the possibility of field ability passed on to the puppies. Not all of our breedings will produce the strong hunting instinct and are bred more for pet companion purposes. Our field breedings produce puppies that also make great companions for the owner who is willing to take on a more spirited Labrador. Although breeding plays a part in creating a good companion personality or hunting instinct, there is no guarantee on either trait if the owner does not further develop these characteristics. We strongly recommend obedience training and socialization of the puppies once they reach their new homes.

Our puppies come with a 27 month hip and eye guarantee that covers hip and retinal dysplasia, their first set of shots, vet checked, dew claws removed, and have been wormed at least twice against round and hook worms. Proof of shots, a copy of the parents OFA certifications along with pedigrees of the parents is supplied upon pick-up. We do not ship our puppies as of right now. We charge a $10/day boarding fee if the puppy is left at our residence more than 2 days after the designated pick-up date. We require a $100 non refundable deposit to hold your place in line on the litter of your choice. We take deposits ahead of time and reserve the right to have first pick of any litter. Prices range on litters from $650-$850 plus sales tax. Puppies are going to be sold on limited registration starting January 2007. Breeding rights will only be allowed on a case by case basis and only after certain certifications have been obtained. We allow visitors by appointment only after the 4 week mark due to protection of the puppies lowered immune system. Chilcotes Chap "Cole"-FREE TO GOOD HOME

Cole is our first male. He has a good field pedigree with many field champions. He is around 80 lbs and has an extremely laid back personality. He follows me everywhere and likes to put his head under my hand to make sure he receives a pet. We received Cole when he was three years old. He had no obedience training at the time but learned the basics (sit, stay, lay down) very quickly. He is extremely intelligent and is loved by all the visitors. (It is very difficult to get a picture of Cole with his ears perked. Just another characteristic that mimics his laid back personality. I'm still working on a good picture of Cole but to see him in person is to love him.) Cole is available to a good home. He is neutered, house broken, non destructive, crate trained and basic obedience trained. He has had recent bloodwork-all normal, and is up to date on his vaccinations. Willow is an American, 70 lb. yellow female. She is from Fryline Kennels in South Carolina and has a great field pedigree with every male in her pedigree titled Master Hunter or Field Champion. All females in the pedigree are titled except for 3 great grandmothers. She received her UKC Started Hunting Retriever Title in 2003. Willow is a high energy girl with a lot of drive and a sweet personality. She is also a wonderful mother that keeps her pups immaculately clean because her tongue goes non stop. If you come to visit, be prepared to receive a Willow kiss. Willow is available to a good home. She is spayed, has had recent bloodwork done-all normal, up to date on shots, obedience trained-although she is a jumper she rarely jumps on you, and crate trained. She still has a lot of energy for an older girl. She would make anyone a great companion and possible amateur hunting partner. Call or email if you are interested. House dog homes only. Lodi was a great addition to Takoda Kennels. She is an all English female from Heatherwood Kennels in Lakeland, Florida. She is very light yellow, almost white. Her father is an AKC Champion show titled male. She is very sweet and very cute. Lodi is very smart. She is fairly laid back. She unfortunately does not meet our breeding standards. She is spayed now and looking for a new home. There are special requirements for her care. She must be an inside dog. Call or email for more details and price.
